Shopping ethically is something that I have been more passionate about in the last year. I guess becoming a mom has a great part of it, thinking of all the people who are exploited daily in developing countries, including kids.  Finding companies that support ethically made goods and artisans is something I am always looking for.  Artisan & Fox is the perfect ethical artisan market to find goods made by real artisans.  This perfect straw bag is from this market! I am just in love with it.  I have always wanted a straw basket to add to my wardrobe, and it can be part of my home decor when I’m not using it! Win win.  I love how Artisan & Fox showcases the artisans under each item.

This beautiful straw bag, called The Humble Straw Bag, was made in Cam Kim Island Vietnam by artisan Hien.  It was handcrafted using traditional Vietnamese techniques and it takes Hien approximately two days to weave.  The site also gives a little personal story where the artisan comes from and the hopes from the goods they make.  Hien makes this straw bags to contribute to her income from running a small grocery stall in the nearby markets and hopes to support her two sons through university, and teach the other women in the village how to weave her iconic straw bags.

Go to Artisan & Fox and be inspired about their story and support local artisans!

Love,

Natalia
