Featured Friday: Someone Like You

Hello guys!

So, I’ve decided to start this new thing where I share my blogger friends with you!  Throughout this journey I have met so many lovely ladies (that I wish lived closer to me) whom I can call my blogger friends.  I decided to start this with my very first blogger friend!!  The lovely Lauren from Someone Like You.  I remember the first time she started talking to me, she was the nicest person and greatest help to this unknown journey of fashion blogging.  I have followed her blog for quite some time and I love her unique style.  We share the same passions with fashion, we love vintage inspired clothes and thrifting is one of the funnest things to do! She just came back from studying abroad in Europe for a few months and all the her travel post just want me to pack my bags and go right now!  I decided to ask Lauren a couple of question about herself to share with you so you can get to know her more:

1. Little about yourself.

My name is Lauren! I’m a 21 year old junior fashion merchandising major in college and run my blog Someone Like You. My blog is a mixture of my every day outfits + a little bit like an online diary. I love to share my personal experiences & connect with people on a more personal level. Besides blogging, I LOVE coffee, writing, and thrift shopping.

2. What is fashion to you?

When I first started getting into fashion when I was 14, it was all about trends for me. I picked up every fashion magazine I could get my hands on (blogs were still developing at the time), and studied them endlessly. I thought that if I purchased the pieces suggested by these publications, I would be considered fashionable. It’s been seven years since then, and I’ve developed a very different approach to what fashion is. I think fashion isn’t just trends; that’s a part of it. But it’s more than that. It’s art, music, cinema, culture, technology politics– anything and everything defines fashion and can inspire it.

3. How long have you been a fashion blogger and why you started?

Man, I can’t believe it but I’ve been a fashion blogger for five years right now! I started when I was 16 and a sophomore in high school. My Advanced English teacher at the time actually brought the idea to me one day that I should document my style because he thought it was special. Also, I had been trying to keep a written journal at the time and it wasn’t working out…so I thought maybe an online one would be easier for me. So, I combined my love of fashion and my love of writing and created my blog– and that’s still what it is today!

4. How would you describe your style?

I used to be able to directly pin point what my style was. It was very vintage inspired, feminine, almost little girl like. But I just spent four months in Europe and it changed me completely, and after having so many influences and inspiration thrown at me, it’s left me trying to figure out what I want my style to exactly be. It’s in the evolving process right now, but I think it’s heading in the direction of a 60/70’s influence but definitely updated with a classic twist.

5. What is your dream job?

Ah, there’s SO many dreamy jobs in the fashion industry I would just love to do..I declared a fashion media minor last year, and I think it’s definitely the direction I want to take my career in after I graduate. My blog has inspired me so much to the intricate world of social media and it’s the route the fashion industry is going in full steam ahead. I would love to be a social media manager for a company, creating and posting content on their media outlets.

6. Who is your inspiration?

No matter what stage in my life or style, I have just always adorn Audrey Hepburn. She is the originator of grace, class, beauty, and style. No matter what, she will always inspire me.

Here are some pictures of Lauren from her blog.  Isn’t she gorgeous?!

Go check out her blog to get inspired, from fashion style to traveling!
